With 25 restaurants, and a Nordic climate, the new Westfield Mall of Scandinavia was determined to find the best solution to recover the kitchen heat energy and to minimize odors, fire risk, and maintenance. The aim was to find a flexible solution, since restaurants can close, move, change the type of menu or rebuild the premises.
Most solutions on the market offered technology that either had equipment installed in the ducts, needed frequent maintenance, or could not guarantee to keep the kitchen ducts free from grease build-up. Additionally, these solutions did not have the flexibility needed to handle moving restaurants and changing treatment capacity needs.
We installed Ozonetech’s RENA high-performance ozone systems treating all 25 restaurants, where some restaurants shared system. All systems are wall-mounted and can be placed flexible and at a distance. The ozone is produced from the oxygen in the air and led to the kitchen ducts by easy to mount Teflon tubes. All systems are remotely monitored 24/7.
Unibail-Rodamco (now URW, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield) recovers the heat energy from all restaurants at the Westfield Mall of Scandinavia saving considerable amounts every year. There has been no reports of odor problems or fire incidents connected to the restaurant kitchens. The Mall of Scandinavia installation contributed to Ozonetech winning the E-Prize from the Swedish weekly business paper Veckans Affärer 2017.
